We have Approval!!!!!
Its Official!
The Plans for the garage and new living room have been approved.
It only took 10 Months and cost us about 3 times what we hoped for... but the city is going to let us put the garage in.
Next step is getting our structural and MEP drawings created and submitted.
My guess... by the end of the year we are under construction!

Furnace Update
If you look back.... way back... to my 2nd post on January 18th I promised a "Central Heating Update coming soon." Well Soon is here... finally.
Obviously this project got pushed to the back burner. We had to get some other stuff done before we could continue with our heating... then summer came and we didn't need it so we kept ignoring it...
Now... the mornings are getting colder and its time to finish.
To start with, we cut in the grilles in all the rooms.
Look above above Alec's head in this photo
We have cut in a grille in every room.... but I don't have pictures.
So, next up is getting the furnace ready.
We cut in our taps and mounted our plenum's.
I have basically finished running the gas so all we have to left to do is run the electrical and run the flex duct to the grilles.

Some Trim Work
Next up, its time to get the living room painted.
The bulk of the work here was in repairing the massive amount of trim in the room.

Current State of Chaos
I know, I Know....
Its been a very long time since I have posted...
Over the next couple of weeks I will be posting the final projects for the upper unit.
We have not been doing a whole lot work over the last few months... but now the push is on.
Since the last post we have done the following:
Finished installing the cabinets
Finished installing the trim in the hall and got it patched and painted
Had granit counters installed which basically finished our kitchen
We repainted the kitchen because the color we picked did not work with our counters
We finished the attic storage
On October 17th Alec, my parents, and I will be going to Vietnam to meet up with Evan and Jessica - http://tidbits-from-thailand.blogspot.com/ - for two weeks. My goal is to be 100% done with the upper unit by the time we go... and this is what we have left to do:
Paint Living Room
Finish baseboard trim
Paint all trim
Patch and paint fireplace mantel
Install cabinet trim
Finish Plumbing for Washer Dryer
Buy Washer Dryer and install
Finish the central heating
Finishing microwave exhaust
Finish electrical in pantry
Now for the "Current State of Chaos"
This last weekend we had our Floors installed in the kitchen and living room.
3 months later, and discovering we we given the wrong sub floor to install, and wasting another week getting it fixed we finally got it together to get the floors done.
Fist off we had to move everything out the kitchen and living room, and considering the size of the rest of the house.... its a tight fit.

Notice the New trim, freshly painted walls, and patched door frames

Let The Floors Begin

Notice the new color on the walls, counter tops, and the completed cabinets.
