On Tuesday and today the last of the remaining steel was installed. The steel didn't get completely welded out today, but it did all get installed. If we are lucky the welding will be completed tomorrow and the floor can go back into that room. However, I think it will most likely be early next week before Evan and Jessica can move back in.
The Iron workers are on the last few pieces of steel to get in, and the smoke detector is having a field day. They plan is for them to be done toady...
So between Friday and Monday, they managed to get the pantry re-framed, and preped the front of the house for the remaining steel.
Inorder for the contractors to get the steel installed at the front of house, the existing floor joists, and there for the existing floor had to be removed. The only problem is that this takes away one of the two rooms Evan and Jessica have to live in... so, they moved in with our parents for the next week or so.
Sorry... I have been really busy finishing the wall in the upper unit... but finally tonight we got the house mostly pick up and partially dusted. Anyways, a lot has happened since the last post. Most notably, the steel beams have been installed, and the majority of the house is now standing on its own two feet (rather 3 pieces of iron). Also, The underground plumbing was completed, inspected, and buried. The partitions between the living room and the garage have been framed. And finally they started reframing the pantry.
More framing today, and the the large steel beams showed up and should start to be installed on Friday... However, we found that the gas and water line run right in the way of one of the beams... our solution is to cut out the water and gas lines tomorrow night after the contractors leave, and try and reconnect them after they get the beam in on Friday. Yup... 24 hrs w/out water and gas... Should be fun.
