Dry Rot

Almost everything that is original in the house is in pretty good shape.
However, the downfall has come with modification or "repairs" made over the years.
For example, at some point, vinyl windows were installed, and installed poorly. We have gone back and caulked gaps more then 1/2" wide all the way round the windows.
Needless to say with this exposure to weather, there has been some damage to the structure.
Here are a few photos of the repairs.

3D Preview

Using Google's Sketchup, I have modeled what the house will look like when all said and done.

This is the front of the house.

This is the back of the house.
I haven't modeled the back stairs, and I forgot two windows for the lower pantry.

Laying Out the Kitchen

Now that all the crap has been clered out, we can start to lay out where all our cabinets and appliances will go.
We need to determine this so we can place the lighting.

These photos will show the general layout of the kitchen along with the 4" can lights we plan on using.

Enjoy...

The Black arc represents the 36" of clearance we need to have from the top of the stairs to anything... The light pencil line on the right represents the end of the fridge...So now I am trying to figure out if I want to put a full height cabinet to the left of the fridge.
I can either put a 21" wide x 12"deep or 18" wide x 24" deep cabinet there or nothing... What do you think?

Day At the Dumps

I would like to give a big thanks to...
My Dad,Evan, Alec, Aaron, and Jessica for dedicating their Saturday to the effort of debris removal at the Mironov's residents.
This last Saturday we rented two 6'x12' U-Haul Trailers... Between them, we hauled over 7,000 pounds of crap to the dumps.... thats right... over 1,000 pounds a person was moved this last weekend.
Here are some pictures that proved it...
